Energy efficiency & open plan living are the prime objectives of this modern new home designed for a northern facing country block near Tea Tree Tasmania. The floor plan is designed to maximise the views & sun. Large roof overhangs shade the home from the hot summer sun while the highlight glazing lets in the sun & heat in winter. The house is designed to be built off site from steel framed wall panels & assembled on site on the thermally rated concrete floor slab. This will be a VERY efficient form of construction. High levels of wall & roof insulation will be used throughout. The central entry foyer acts as a bridge between the two living wings & creates a breezeway for hot summer days. All windows and sliding doors will be double glazed & tinted to reduce glare & excessive heat loss / gain. The large open plan living / dining / kitchen area will enjoy a raked ceiling over, creating a greater feeling of space. Solar heated water will heat the floor slabs in winter.
