My client wanted to do some minor alterations to her classic 1940's bungalow in South Hobart Tasmania. The main theme was to give the kitchen area more connection to the beautiful cottage garden. We did this by designing a small cathedral raked ceiling over a new set of glazed french doors connecting the kitchen to a new timber framed deck that was slightly elevated over the garden. We were also able to create a new fernery area out of the otherwise cold, wasted area between the house & the laundry shed. The new cathedral ceiling now provides alot more light into the kitchen & due to the extra ceiling height, creates an uplifting feeling to the very traditional lean-to kitchen extension.
