My client request a modern, cost effective extension that created a large living space for their young family. Energy efficiency was of high priority. The extension has been designed to take advantage of the glorious waterfront views of the Derwent river & soak up the afternoon western sun. The design is made to fit the existing old timber weatherboard house without making excessive structural changes to the existing structure. Extensive insulation has been used in the roof & external walls aswell as energy efficient double glazed windows & sliding door. One of the best features of this design is that we were able to get natural sunlight into the centre of the existing dark, cold dwelling. This will warm the home & make it light & bright. Structural design was by Aldanmark Engineers P/L.
