We were engaged to redesign a large 70's styled house in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. The brief was to modernise the exterior, have contrasting textural elements, build a new rumpus room into the existing garage, and incorporate a new double carport / storage area. The original roof had previously been replaced, so instead of going to the expense of altering the roof we designed a series of parapet facades to disguise it. From there we extended the dwelling towards the street to create a more welcoming appearance. Textural elements such as the stone columns & exposed aggregate driveway contrast well with the smooth external walls of the dwelling. The entrance to the home is now protected from the weather & the layout creates an onsite turning area for safer exiting of vehicles from the property. The home now has an impressive street frontage & has made a huge difference in street appeal & value. |
