This is a small modern extension for a client in Moonah Tasmania. The existing cottage had a small, impractical lean-to extension. We designed this new extension to be a second living area that would be full of light with easy, open access to the backyard. Now the home is connected to the outside living area & takes advantage of all day sun. This extension is very cost effective as we have designed it to fit with the existing structure & reuse materials where possible. The extension features high levels of insulation in the floor, walls & roof. The 900 mm wide roof overhang shades the windows from the strong midday summer sun, yet lets in morning & afternoon sun to brighten & warm the house in autumn and winter. Built by JA Constructions to a very high standard of workmanship. Structural design was by Aldanmark Engineers Pty Ltd.
